2013 Color Forecast

color forecast
Color forecast is predicting what colors will become popular is design and fashion. This is predicted by information taken from fashion, home decor, and even car trends. It is also effected by events that are happening throughout the nation. Upcoming color trends involve many neutral colors which give off a vibe of safety. Mixed in with these safe neutral colors are pops of brighter and positive colors to keep things trendy. Neutral colors that are popular include different shades of browns. A popular trend is to pair these colors with blues and greens to add pops of excitement. Blues are comforting safe colors and greens are thought to be ecofriendly colors, and this can help show the personality of the person who lives in the room.

For this room I went with an analogous color scheme. Neutral colors are part of the color trend so I chose a neutral room. Pops of color are also popular, and blue and green are colors that are a big part of this trend. The combination of the neutral tans and browns paired with the pops of blues, greens, and yellow greens match the color forecast very well and create a trendy analogous room.

Color Schemes

Monochromatic

monochromatic

For the library room of the Sexie family home I chose a monochromatic blue color scheme. Darker blues are found in the chairs, end tables, and smaller shelves. The larger shelves, rug, pillows, and chairs that are farther back in the room consist of lighter hues. The different blues make the room a relaxing and peaceful place to read.

Analogous

The movie theater room has an analogous color scheme. For this room I used orange, yellow, and red. These colors are like the ones found in a movie theater to give the room an authentic feel. The warmth of the colors also make the room more inviting. The decor also consists of movie theater concessions and artwork of Audrey Hepburn.

Complementary

complementary

This room is a bedroom for Elma. She is ten and likes fashion and dance, which is why I picked a more playful design and artwork of dance and dresses. I picked complementary colors of blue and orange to make the room more exciting for someone younger, but at the same time keep the room fashion forward to fit her personality.

Triadic

triadic

This room is for the youngest Sexie son, Roland. I like the triadic colors of blue, green, and orange to make the room very colorful and interesting. Roland loves animals which is why I incorporated pieces of art with different animals. The bright colors and playful animal pieces create a room that fits his young animal loving personality.
