Assignment #2 Housing Life Cycle

Age 18
For the age I’m at now, I picked a home with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in Monticello. I chose this because I still live with my family; this includes 2 brothers, my sister, and my mom. We would need a bigger house because there are a lot of us, and I picked a house in Monticello so my brother, my sister, and I could stay in the same schools. It will satisfy all the physical needs. It provides shelter, safety, a place to sleep, and a place to prepare food. The size of the house provides plenty of storage which is something we would need. The house will also give us love and belonging because we are together. We would also have our own spaces to allow individual creativity and privacy.

Age 21
For this age I picked a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in St. Cloud. I chose a smaller apartment because it will most likely only be me living there and it will help me save money if the apartment isn’t bigger than it needs to be. At this age I would only need a basic place to live. Despite the small size the apartment will still give me shelter, some storage, safety, a place to sleep, and a place to prepare food. It will also give me privacy and allow me to be creative in the way that I decorate it.

Age 41
For this age I chose a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom house in Fargo, North Dakota. I have lived in Fargo before and like how big the city is so I would love to own a house there. At this age I probably won’t be living alone anymore and will need a slightly bigger house to fit family members. The house will give me shelter, storage, safety, a place to sleep, and a place to prepare food. The house will also give me privacy and a place to be creative. Having my own home will also give me some sense of identity and if I have a family being together in the house will give us love and belonging.

Age 71
For this age I picked a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom senior apartment in Fargo, North Dakota. I chose Fargo because most likely my family will be there and there is plenty to do. At this age I won’t need much space and probably wouldn’t be able to take care of a large home. The apartment will still give me shelter, just enough storage, safety, a place to sleep, and a place to prepare food. It will also give me enough privacy, and I will be able to decorate the inside of the apartment which allows me to be creative.
